The attached powertop log shows the typical case where ubuntuone-syncd
is causing the most CPU wakeups. I get similar results whenever I run
powertop. This is from a freshly started system, which was completely
synced and was running for about 20 minutes.

I did the upgrade, still without the above PPA.
Either the 2.6.32.18 kernel, or the 1.7.6 xorg fixed the issue, so I can log in
now without a xorg.conf now.
There are some lesser glitches though, suspend doesn't work, and the notify-osd
rendering is faulty when hovering over the mouse.

After some searching and trying various configurations, I noticed that
there are two ways to use Anthy from within I-Bus. For Japanese I have
a choice of four I-Bus backends:
Anthy
anthy (m17n)
trycode (m17n)
tcode (m17n)
I accidentally picked the second one, which although it uses Anthy for

got this yesterday:
first boot: hang with fsck at 71 %
2d boot hang at 92 %
third boot boots well
since, all other boots are normal (but fsck not called at time, wait and
see next time)

The bug is still present in lucid. Is there a way to hack/patch the
existing packages to make brightness control work? After all the keys
produce keycodes, and the brightness can be set via setpci. What
component is usually responsible for brightness control
(kernel,ddx,acpid,...)?
