Yes! This seems to have been a duplicate of the above mentioned bug. I
have applied the patch and the screensaver indeed works with the gui not
crashing. Thank for your patience with my bumbling through the

What is /mnt/sux? You don't mention it being in your /etc/fstab, but I
don't see what you would hope to accomplish by using LUKS if your
decryption key is sitting on your unencrypted root partition.
What do you get on the screen if you boot with the 'splash' option?

Firefox hangs sporadically when writing of texts, including video
streams. When you tap it stops short and writes the text after a few

Thanks Iestyn, yours workaround worked!
I've been almost sure I've tried that before on the Lucid between Beta and RC,
but...
The workaround is 'noapic' parameter to kernel cmdline.
Even that it works using this workaround it's a bug/regression which needs a
fix.
But now I know it might be
I can confirm the error during upgrade to 10.4 Lucid Lynx using Upgrade
Manager from a fresh install of 9.10.
