Hi. I have a similar problem, with a simple JetFlash usb drive.
After adding it with usb_add, info usb shows nothing and I start getting the
following message in the console:

Oops, sorry - I hadn't noticed that virt-manager had un-connected
the cdrom. In fact, I can NOT reproduce this. When I hit 'q' to quit
attempting network boot, it proceeds to boot the installation cdrom.

Completely disregard my previous report.
The problem is back in all its glory, the past two days have been probably just
a coincidence.
It's been less then 30 minutes since I turned on this laptop, and visual
effects are disabled already.

Extra visual effects are reverted to none at random
My intention was just to point out that on linux-image-2.6.35-22-generic from
Maverick (which I thought was newer than 2.6.35.8) with the new stack
firewire-ohci modules manually loaded (removing the old stack ones ), problems
with the TI TSB82AA2 persist.
Since the title of this bug is New
I have the same bug in Maverick and Natty. Who is responsible here -
ALSA or Pulseaudio!?
can you provide a testcase which can reproduce the problem and a full
pulseaudio log with timestamp by set log-time=yes in

command), you can use that to turn your volumes up, and to select input
source, in case gnome-volume-control doesn't do that correctly for you.
