diagnose it. You did not explain the bug sufficiently, and none of the
logs you provided indicate a crash or other failure, so there is not
anything to go on. Feel free to reopen the bug with a better

There were a couple of daily builds on 29 March. They fail the same
way. Here's an fdisk -l of the partition structure. The USB stick boot
is sdc1 and the empty partition target is sdb6 however Ubiquity never
gets far enough to display these partitions. Maverick has no trouble.

Looks like your monitor simply has wrong EDID values in it. The nvidia
driver is ignoring what the monitor says its capable of and firing
things up at 50Hz. It appears to believe your monitor's firmware was
encoded incorrectly.

I think the problem is two instances of 'gnome-settings-daemon' being
run. Normally, they had to be run one after another.
The following fixed the problem for me:
Step 1: Create a script (I called it gnome-settings-daemon-fix.sh) under
/etc/xdg/autostart with the following:

This is ubuntu-desktop-amd64.iso from 2011-03-29.1 installed in OEM mode. The
OEM end user had also been created, which then redirects to the login
Seems to be related to permissions of config.py link.
I've copied /var/lib/lastfmproxy to my home directory, replaced config.py
symlink with a copy of /etc/lastfmproxy/config.py and it runs fine.

I installed gdm and fvwm (which caused the pam-session line which you
commented out to be added - I didn't have that before), then installed
libcap2-bin, and got the message about running pam-auth-update. So I
ran pam-auth-update --force, accepted the defaults. Then logged in as a
normal use
