I think I'm experiencing this same problem, but with the ati (open source)
driver. When it freezes, I am sometimes able to do Alt-F2 to get to the console
and kill compiz (and then continue operation), but most of the time it's a
complete freeze - requiring a reboot.

I'm having the same problem. Can't burn DVDs with any program. I can
burn CDs though.

This is very easy to reproduce and I'm surprised there's so much
confusion here:
Steps to reproduce:
1.) Close all windows
2.) Open Firefox
3.) Open Thunderbird
4.) Click on a link in a mail.
Expected result:
Firefox window has focus
Actual result:
Thunderbird still has focus

The reason I think this is a bug is because if the Firefox window is
*minimized* then it gets brought to the foreground and receives focus.
Note that this behaviour is not specific to Thunderbird either.
Launching a Firefox window from terminal with 'firefox page.html' also
exhibits the same
