When using the gnome display config, I used to be able to have my

When booting my plucky laptop with my external VGA monitor attached I
get a login screen in 11.10 that is 1024 x 768 mirrored. It's stretched
on the VGA monitor and displayed neatly in the middle of the screen on
the laptop. When I boot with no monitor attached the login

I did run apport-collect from a VT (as nothing other than the dasher
icons appear, cf screenshot), and that is what I meant by terminal
windows are fine. Should have said tty? Try it out: apport-collect will
mumble about launching a browser and that's as far as it gets - yes,

99% of the icons we are getting from the indicators right now are
pixbufs, which made this way more difficult that it could have been (and
not as nice). For now, to cover all themes instead of just Radiance, I'm

Personally, I have circumvented this bug by a just-a-little-less-dirty
workaround (see attached patch).
It will only affect fields/data that contain non-UTF-8 character(s) and just
strip those from the field rather than suppressing the entire field.

I discussed that with Neil, and I think this is the best compromise we
can come up for Oneiric. Future plans involve using symbolic icons in
indicators, and change color directly without needing to play with cairo
magics that can have their drawbacks.

Actually, it seems to have been rather a user error in my case. :) The
problem occured when I had

downloading ALL attachments. The bug here is that attachments should not
be downloaded unless requested (and then only once!).

I agree with Mournir Lamouri that this problem is may be complicated
than I first thought when I posted a duplicate bug a few years ago, and
welcome his introduction of debate into this discussion
I do, however find his suggestion that websites should use autofocus
unhelpful. I suspect the

The migration of /var/run to /run and /var/lock to /run/lock may fail if
/var/run is part of the root filesystem
The bug is in /etc/init/mounted-var.conf and here the line
start on mounted MOUNTPOINT=/var
it should also do its work if /var is part of the root file system

I noticed that upstart-udev-bridge was using 100% of one of my CPU
cores. I noticed this after a compiz crash; I'm not sure if the problem
was happening before the crash.
