my former comment is totally wrong. sleep and hibernation work on 10.04
and 10.10 when the proprietary drivers are not activated (and the video
quality is really bad), but this walkaround does not work on 11.04 and
so i suppose it won't work on 11.10 either.

Testing on Ubuntu 11.04, with gscan2pdf 0.9.31-2 and gimp
2.6.11-1ubuntu6.2.
Scanning a DIN A4 piece of paper.
Using gscan2pdf's gimp integration to increase contrast and to blind
some of the information on the paper.
Saving in gimp to temporary file.
Closing gimp.
Anyone upstream from gscan2pdf or gimp checking Ubuntu bugs every now
and then anyway?
