I don't know if it helps people working on this stuff, but I just bought a
brand new MSI 990FXA-GD65 and a Phenom II X6 with 12GB RAM.
I tried to install Ubuntu 11.04 (x86_64) and it can't find USB devices. I gives
the well known errors (unable to enumerate device, device descriptor
True Michael, it does, and there will be even more in the future (as
people start following the Gnome 3 design). Elementary Icons will
include symbolic icons in their upcoming release[1], however, we're not
sure if they will be ready for 12.04. Thus we will most likely have to
include the

an external USB CD-Drive will find that as soon as Debian starts looking
for devices, the drive (used to boot it) vanishes and can't be found.

I had this issue, my network was extremely slow on Ubuntu and would time out
very soon. After the proposed fix of installing the ppa followed by the
backport package, I cannot restart the OS even in recovery mode.

riqht click on a file is opening a windows with open, open with, copy,
properties and so on. if i have 2 *.doc files, i can mark them and then
click right on a file and choose open and libreoffice will open both

Apologies. On further investigation is transpired that I didn't have the
STA driver (wl module) loaded after all. Rather, the brcmsmac driver was
being loaded instead. (I think this probably resulted from an earlier
attempt to install the appropriate driver directly using Broadcom's own
I installed Oneric on a separate hard drive in this machine and have
tested it a few times, so far without any issue.
So far, S-Video is always detected (although that's even when it's not
plugged in) and 3D always works.
I'm not going to say that this problem has definitely been fixed in

I have acer aspire 5734z with gma 4500 running archlinux. best solution
for me is adding GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=acpi_osi=Linux to
/etc/default/grub then update grub. still starts dark but brightness
