I was able to reproduce it with this scaled-down document (I'm not
sending the original problem documents because they're unpublished
papers that shouldn't be available publicly yet). All documents work on
my other computer. I think the problem may be that for some reason
Ubuntu has created 1MB
I can confirm disabling Bindwood extention before update solved the
problem.

I'm no longer running KDE (turns out I like Unity...) and I don't have a
Windows network to deal with any more. But it sounds like this would
solve the printer issue. However there would still the issue of
accessing the so-called M: drive.

I have tried to test the latest upstream kernel as advised, by downloading the
.deb package with the
linux-image-3.3.0-030300-generic_3.3.0-030300.201203182135_amd64, then
installing it.
After restarting the machine the new kernel hangs up before entering the
desktop, a black screen it's all
Problem seemed to be solved after I tried to reset my computer ( press
the small button in the hole for sevaral seconds).

netfilter really hates cisco 7940 phones. Please let me know what I can do to
help track down how to at least get this clutter out of the log.
(It's been doing it since at least lucid - that's when the phone was added, the
