This is 2012, usability is rated as minor important, seriously?
Seeing that this problem is known since 2007 drives me mad.
In the end these small things decide if a Ui supports you in doing your work,
or make it a real pain.
I am glad that I found the work around - but editing some xml-

Jamie, I would say you're now hitting a different issue now, and it
doesn't look like a kernel issue. Maybe it's worth opening a different
bug report.
Anyway, it looks like you all agree that the lp1013183v2 seems to fix

Now using quantal with kernel 3.5.
Suspend does not work properly - screen goes black but the system only cools a
little. I think the hard drive and cpu are still powered.
Also, resume fails to work at all. Pressing a key to resume gets a burst of
sound from the disks but no screen. I suspect

Quantal Alternate amd64 + mac 20120626
When debian-installer starts (i.e when the page 'Select a language' in a
default install or 'Main menu' in a expert install) the external USB
keyboard stops working (key do not respond, leds are dead) like is USB
was disabled
