Not sure whether it works with the new kernel. Pressing shutdown, the
screen becomes black, and the PC is off in under a second, no splash

I upgraded grub on a VM which I had snapshotted - apparently, this
changes the disk ID.

GConf-registry.
We see these values in gconf-editor:
system - gstreamer - 0.10 - audio - profiles.
We are now moving to GTK3 and Gstreamer 1.0.
