A fix was released yesterday for a similar bug (titlebars were not
usable after window was unmaximized). You currently have an older
version compiz installed without that fix. Please upgrade your system
and see if the new compiz (version 1:0.9.9~daily13.03.25-0ubuntu1) fixes
this issue.

How did you manage to do that? Please show me the output of
ls -lR /usr/share/postgresql-common/
/usr/share/postgresql-common/maintscripts-functions is shipped by
postgresql-client-common which is a hard dependency (and you have it
installed).

Where's the fun in succesful boots?
Anyhow just append 'and started plymouth-splash' to the start on line in
/etc/init/lightdm.conf, after the 'and started dbus' line.
This should fix the race between plymouth show-splash and lightdm
starting.

conffiles; mark them as '[inaccessible: reason]'
Wrong, in any case the race happens because plymouth-splash is racing
against lightdm. if you add 'and started plymouth-splash' after the 'and
dbus' line in /etc/init/lightdm.conf the race should be gone.
