Now that I look more closely at the logs, this isn't a duplicate. You
simply seem to have had your usb flash drive come up as sda and tried to
install grub there. You can work around this by manually choosing to
install grub to the hard drive ( sdb ).

work almost exclusively in Impress so cannot comment on the other Libre
Office apps), particularly with the Ubuntu Light font which displays as
other weights and is particularly erratic. I have not experienced any
issues
So in my case it seems like the new kernel gave priority to the Intel
card and that's why my screen no longer worked. I fixed this by adding
radeon.modeset=1 video=LVDS:1600x900 to my kernel cmdline in grub.
This forces the ATI driver to take over and things are back to how they

After 8 hours of running the memtest and no problems I installed:
linux-image-3.9.0-030900rc6-generic_3.9.0-030900rc6.201304080035_amd64.deb
and
linux-image-extra-3.9.0-030900rc6-generic_3.9.0-030900rc6.201304080035_amd64.deb
