Actually, it looks like something from this script is helpful on my
system (HP dm4t) under x86_64. If I make the changes suggested by loke
in #5, then my laptop doesn't sleep properly. How was it decided that
the functions herein are not needed on x86_64? Again-- upstream runs
this regardless.
I continue to experience brief locks which are enough to set the kill
system responsiveness and set the clock back, but not enough to trigger
a watchdog event.

I'm not sure what you mean by frames and periods, but 21.3 ms is much
larger than the minimum latency is supposed to be -- it is supposed to
be around 1 - 2 ms. The usbmon trace attached to comment #25 showed
three channels in use:

- first i've discovered the issue using wine1.5/1.6 where i need some wingdings
symbols, but get only rectangles
- outside of wine, the same issue also exist inside ubuntu installation :
