How did you install Saucy? Did you do like I did, and install from DVD,
then use dpkg to install the packages using dselect upgrade?

Adding the module ohci_pci (and only that) to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and
updating fixed it in my case.

that lightdm is not keeping the system locked.

- lock the screen with "Shutdown > Lock Screen" ;
- on lightdm screen, just do ctrl+alt+F7 : you arrive on the desktop, without
typing any password.

so you need to change the name to Mic Boost and keep it at 0 dB when you

Well... I am not sure, whether it will help or not, but I had two
installations upgraded 13.04 -> 13.10.
One worked fine, other one got this very same problem. I am not
completely sure, is this crude workaround or not, but I found help in
this archlinux forum thread as all symptoms were the same.

Salamander is a transitional package that should be safe to remove.
