I can also confirm this issue has happened to me on multiple Distro's,
this is all running on my CR48 Chromebook from Google (beta test), using
a Synaptics touchapd.
LUbuntu 12.04
Fedora 13 (LXDE)
Linux Mint 14
Debian 7.2
and many others I have tried.
I never knew of any of the fixes listed abov
