The problem occurs at the moment.
I was logged in as 'duke' but logged out (via the session menu) and then logged
in as 'administrator'.
In the session menu both users have a check mark behind their names, even
though user 'duke' is no longer logged in.

No thoughts on that without seeing the actual output of what happened
during boot. The driver disk is certainly the way to go for this. I
think I have a theory on what that might be with regard to your boot
failure. I need to test it first, though.

When I boot my machine with the 3.11.0-14 kernel configuration my
Atheros ethernet card (AR8161) is very slow. I talk about less than 1/3

I am trying with 13.10 and the command that used to work with 13.04 has
now stopped working. I tried with sec=lanman,ntlm,ntlmv2 and it either
does not work and gives the useless error

Well, thanks, but I'm using Xubuntu 12.04 LTS and don't plan to update
to an intermediate version.
