The stock drivers on 14.04 don't work out of the box for *gigabit
ethernet*. If you're connecting to a gigabit router, then open a

I agree with Jonas above that Canonical/Ubuntu really must stop putting
out sets of packages that are incompatible with each other, especially
in LTS releases, ESPECIALLY when confirmed bugs go unsquashed. It would
be better to not have Likewise in the distribution to begin with rather
than have us

I'm with Seb on this one (and I think I was involved in the discussions
he's alluding to about Unity alignment and colour fixes). This is a
real usability issue and, frankly, if there are screenshots documenting
the current behaviour, they're ugly and we don't want them anyway. :P

I can install a UK keyboard from a login
and it then works aftyer reboot,
but the guest account is still US keyboard
so @ and £ are wrong.

The problem is that the /var/log/pcp/pmmgr directory is not created with proper
permissions.
Run
# chown pcp:pcp /var/log/pcp/pmmgr
and it will start working.

I would like to mention that, when the computer is booted off with the
wifi killswitch OFF the machine boots normally as vellmont mentions...
Running dmesg -E on a bare console (ctrl+alt+f1) at this point and then
turning on the wireless produces a ton of output when it crashes...

Michael is exactly right. `sudo pip install` (and pip3) will install
into /usr/local/lib/pythonX.Y/dist-packages by default (no switches),
which is where they *should* get installed. I'm not sure there's a
still valid bug here.

Upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04 on my dual monitor system. System consists
of a system76 laptop (built in monitor is 1920x1080 resolution) and an
external monitor (ASUS 1920x1080 resolution).
Prior to the upgrade, the monitors were configured with the ASUS monitor
above the lap
Tested with mainline kernel (linux-image-3.15.0-031500rc2-generic) -
Both hotkeys and the Brightness slider in the Brightness & Lock settings
dialogue change the screen brightness correctly.
