i also have an out of the box fujitsu fi-6110 which function perfectly
on 12.04 and i believe new install of 13.10 but the upgrade of 13.10 to
14.04 made the scanner invisible to sane-find-scanner and sanimage -L.
also noted udev did detect the scanner as above and shown in the logs
below,
@Po-Hsu,
Please skip comment #7.
Since latest kernel fixes this issue, it should be win8 backlight issue.
Backlight control is moved to gfx after win8.
video.use_native_backlight=1 is set as default after 3.16-r2.
Utopic release should fix this issue.

I ran into this and my workaround was:
ln -sf /usr/lib/llvm-3.4/lib/LLVMgold.so /usr/lib/LLVMgold.so
echo /usr/lib/llvm-3.4/lib /etc/ld.so.conf
ldconfig
I also had to add -B/usr/lib/gold-ld to my clang options to get it to
use /usr/bin/ld.gold instead of /usr/bin/ld.bfd
(-B takes a directory
@Marc Thomas: A not particular work around is to install sshfs* and
mount the file systems manually. I found that IntelliJ (netbeans)
stopped overwriting permissions when mounted this way.
