This means my drive has the same controller as OP's faulty Crucial
drive. How probable is it that the corruption problem has anything to do
with the flash controller (as opposed to, let's say, the drive's
firmware)?

That affects different Google Chrome inputs. Address bar, Google search
bar, Google Keep inputs and so on. It's not limited to a special
extension. (I use a Zenbook Prime UX31A with Ubuntu 14.04 running.)
Maybe other programs are affected too, but I don't think so. Can't

well, after analyzing the patch Ive found that powermanager relies now
on logind lid close event handler. Which means that
HandleLidSwith=ignore is invalid now and should now be used with the

unofficial package from webupd8 ppa.
Is not a problem of official packages that can't consider any unofficial
packages changes.
Remove all unofficial packages before install the official ones.

With that bugfix, we had found a conflict with logind also trying to
handle suspending on lid close, creating a race condition for xfce4
-power-manager and light-locker. We introduced a new setting, logind-
handle-lid-switch, which (dis)allows logind handling that event. If
