there was a media-hub landing on friday which fixed 2nd play of video
capability which in theory would mean more chances for hitting dead
objects on the bus
And b/c this bug has the same signature expected / seen in bug

I am also getting this error, and like Eugene says, it seems to be
dependent on the environment in which the mount command is executed.
I attempted to mount from inside a tmux session, and the mount failed.
I detached from the tmux session, issued the very same mount command in
a plain ssh
redman, I think you're mistaken. I just installed 12.04 in a virtual
machine, and here's what update-notifier did:
When there were no updates, it showed no icon.
When there were basic updates, it showed an orange icon.
When there were security updates, it showed a red icon.
This matches my

I ran into this problem but it turned out it was because I had precise
instead of trusty in my /etc/apt/sources.list file. You might want to

Why are you doing this instead of using the defaults? You also have a
'nosplash' argument, which implies you want to not have the splash
screen - this isn't actually needed, if you don't want a splash you
should just omit

This issue does exist in Trusty (probably in Utopic as well).
It didn't exist a few versions ago (I don't remember which one introduced the
bug).
If I boot from the Live USB (created using dd), select another language
(Portuguese, for example) then Try Ubuntu, the live session has English
Confirm the tearing with unredirect fullscreen Windows enabled. Linux mint 17
Cinnamon 64 bit, Nvidia GT 530, driver 331.38 (i tested the 340 also with the
same result).
This workaround ( http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208t=155365 )
allow to disable unredirect fullscreen windows
The pages and pages of gibberish make it very hard to do the release
upgrade with the DistUpgradeViewNonInteractive command.

In UEFI mode, installer crashes if OS is installed on 2nd drive and grub
