I'd like to point out that the description of the bug is inaccurate.
When networkmanager uses dnsmasq, resolv.conf should not be updated when
new dns servers must be used. Instead, networkmanager needs to update
dnsmasq's configuration. And it does not do that, which is a problem.

I just upgraded my hypervisor to Ubuntu 14.04 in an attempt to resolve
this issue as Simon experienced. However under heavy I/O of 'aptitude
upgrade', I've had 3 more occurences of this with hours of upgrading the

I ran e2fsck on this disk, and it found quite alot of problems with
early inodes. After e2fsck completed almost all the root folders were
moved to lost+found. I managed to restore the data by moving them back
from lost+found.

12.04.0 and 14.04.1. It doesn't work on any kernel when booted from the
hard drive.

hexchat 2.10.1 from this PPA:

... works fine in my testing.
Hopefully, 2.10.2 doesn't have any package-breaking changes over 2.10.1
