early inodes. After e2fsck completed almost all the root folders were

I don't know what caused this. The apport message popped-up while
running a routine update through update-manager. I haven't rebooted to
determine whether the problem causes any graphical issues when the
system tries to load the module (which it seems it couldn't build), yet.

May I suggest to update your bug reporting etiquette to not require bios
updates if the motherboard manufactuerer does not provide a reliable way to
update the bios from within Ubuntu whilst the motherboard is working
