It has locked up again overnight but I can still SSH in.
One possible thought is - could it be systemd-timesync which is the problem and
not actually xorg?
The Xorg.0.log shows nothing unusual but syslog and kern.log are full of
entries about CPU lockup, and "top" as always shows systemd-timesync

Even with xscreensaver instead of light-locker, there are times when the
cursor disappears on a *fresh* login (not after locking/suspending). I'm
trying light-locker again now, and using the workaround from

Ok, I looked at this quite a bit today. I'll summarize some stuff that
was already said to justify the path forward.
1. bug #1509829 reports that the lightdm guest session fails to start fcitx and
mozc input methods
2. the fix as implemented was to create apparmor abstractions for fcitx and
mozc
Is the snap removed and then reinstalled?
Has this been triggered just by running the snap?
When was the kernel rebooted since the snap was installed? Since the snap was
removed?
