LMDE is different for sure, but the issue affects main edition of Mint
(Mint 17 and 18) - this edition is Ubuntu-based. So it's not just Ubuntu
MATE, it's something in Ubuntu that m-c-c doesn't handle correctly.

Hi all,
We've got a user that cannot connect to his Wi-Fi AP, we've tried the
same steps but is still not able to connect. Here is a resume of the
info and test:
- Frieza on OTA-11
- Forget Wi-FI AP
- Reboot both router and tablet
- Enter password again but seems like is still asking for the pass

I was also affected. Upgraded from 14.04 to 16.04 with troubles w.r.t.
MySQL. I resolved or rather worked around this problem with `sudo touch
/etc/mysql/my.cnf.fallback`.
Bug 1567051 seems related.
