I found that the setup-testbed failed/forgot to place the console enabling
files.
They needed to be adapted anyway - I now have those which gives me a root
console:

This has been introduced by the recent switch from using .dekstop files
to using u-a-l to get information about items. The old code would remove
an app if the .desktop file goes away. I suspect u-a-l keeps information
about the app around for while which makes the code think it is still
installed.
This happens in launchpad builders. I don't think it is possible for us
to log in and run apport-collect. Also there are many logs linked in the
bug description. Putting back to Confirmed.

@rlaager, as you know, the upstream source code has the suffix (.py)
In order to do less manipulation since this is not fixing anything
broken, I symlinked that way using dh_links.
IMHO, the symlink order doesn't really matter since the result will be
the same either way, to have both old name
