the script failed.

i have the same problem on Supermicro motherboard X10SRM-F. Bios is latest
(2.0a).
Either Ubuntu 16.10 or Beta 17.10 - whether in UEFI mode or Legacy mode , both
from USB key as well as from Virtual CDROM drive - after selecting on 1st
screen (GRUB screen) - "Install Ubuntu Server" screen

Okay, I removed the 'hold' flag on the needed packages and upgraded
(again) and can confirm that it DOES work now - at least at first
appearance. I'll be doing some stuff on the server tonight and will keep
you apprised of any problems.

I just wanted to reject that assumption because the version of AppStream in
Xenial was too old, but it turns out you're right: A backport from a newer
version broke this, and I didn't notice because my AppStreamQt is also newer
(and using a better architecture where this bug can't happen

and a patch to fix the bug has not been added. The commit that
introduced this bug was also cc'd to stable, so other releases will now
have this bug as well, until it is fixed.

ssh-keygen is about 5.5 times faster than that genkey.go program on my
laptop too (it's just that the times are much smaller, obviously). AIUI,
generating an RSA key ends up benchmarking montgomery multiplication,
and I know there are SIMD tricks you can use for that. Go doesn't seem
to be using
