Indeed we need to get this fix released in bionic first.
Possibly confusing is that "LP: #1718824" is only mentioned in the

That seems to have fixed it! I've run the test script six or seven times
on both kernels, with nary a hiccup (aside from the "error -19" messages
with the 4.13 kernel). Below is the reported kernel information from
both your builds, just to be sure I booted the correct kernels.

16.04. I upgraded my 16.04 machine to 17.10, but I could wipe the OS

I'm trying to build a Debian package that uses dh-python, pybuild, and
tox.
debuild -i runs dpkg-buildpackage, which runs debian/rules build, which
runs dh build --with python2,python3 --buildsystem=pybuild, which runs
dh_auto_test -O--buildsystem=pybuild, which runs tox -c .
To clarify: this is a bug in urllib3 as bundled in python-pip, that
shows up only when PyPI is unavailable. Pybuild sets
https_proxy=https://127.0.0.1:9/ to forcefully make PyPI unavailable

There is one file in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/wine/ which lsattr says
has the immutable flag set:

Same thing happened to me. When I tried to reboot with previous kernel the
mouse and keyboard would disappear. Removing Nvidia driver got me back to the
desktop.
In my case original nvidia drivers was the cause and switching back to open
source nouveau helped. First, I removed all stuff from nv

Using the test kernel I can confirm, that the BIOS is writable, keeps settings
over reboot and the bios changed message has disappeared.
