Note this doesn't occur in Xenial as the code changes required for
backport fixed the issue there. Though the communitheme doesn't show

Yes, upstream reopened this bug because it regressed. I'm not sure how
we want to handle that in Launchpad.

Title:
Touchpads are unresponsive
Note to all readers:
1. A workaround to enable the (unfinished) feature is at the top of this
bug in the Bug Description.
2. An alternative solution, which I've found works fine for many systems
(lower than 3K resolution) is: gnome-tweaks > Fonts > Interface > choose
your own font size(s)

Ubuntu did not design or write the relevant code here. It's not our
choice. Just that nobody in the world has implemented it yet.
In order to get it implemented please either comment in

Public bug reported:
# lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Release:18.04
udisks2: 2.7.6-3
libblockdev-mdraid2: 2.16-2
Ubuntu 18.04, freshly upgraded from 16.04 via 17.10; system ran OK for about
72h before issue.
Filesystem on faulty raid is XFS, and raid is raid 10
Reverting that commit will address the firmware loading issue for both
kbl and bxt. Although as far as I understand, Intel had cancelled
Broxton, and there are no chips based on it in the market, so it's
basically Kaby Lake users that are affected.

You received this bug notification because
Bug confirmed by more users, including:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5500 @ 1.66GHz
Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N550 @ 1.50GHz
This is reminiscent of bug 1583532, so we may need to review the shaders
used in mutter/clutter/cogl.
I now agree with "High" importance.
