(and a solution, for me at least ;)
I just installed the Nvidia driver 390.48 on my Alienware 17 R4 (Nvidia
Geforce GTX 1080) running Ubuntu 18.04. After installing the driver this
mouse problem started to occur. But I found
After installing a 18.04 that couldn't be fresher,
I added the applet Indicator Applet Complete
and now I've got in a bunch:
that Network Manager applet that was missing (that of 16.04.4 was badly working
after suspend)
a Battery applet that was missing too
a duplicate Sound applet
a Mixed
I still have s103t device, and this report seems a duplicate of:

Aren't the packages hosted more or less centrally? Isn't it possible to
rebuild most snaps automatically? This is a serious usability issue
appearing on an LTS, after all. Snaps are heavily promoted in the Ubuntu
18.04 Software Center. This should not be ignored, at least for default
or promoted
