surprising because apparently the AMD Cedar GPU shouldn't max out until
textures reach 16384x16384 [1].

I can confirm same exact problems as Sergey on a computer that was once
a Dell XPS, but has been through so many upgrades, the only original
part may now be the power cord!
Uninstalling the print-manager fixed it.

I just upgraded to 16.04 on my old computer, and it has this problem. It
was a nasty installation because of some unfixed bug that appears to
have been around since 2004 where it doesn't install sysv-rc.
But consequently, one of my accounts was really wonky, but another one
