On backup I had:
mv: cannot stat '.gnome2': No such file or directory
mv: cannot stat '.gconfd': No such file or directory
mv: cannot stat '.metacity': No such file or directory
but worked for the rest
Also disabled all extensions (didn't have any active, but can't hurt)
Restarting into that now .
Trying hard reset of my config via:

I see, I going to use a PPA for rebuilding reverse dependencies to
provide this kind of feedback.
Doing so has shown all kind of build issues *not* related to vala in the
past, while updating 0.40.x in 18.04/Bionic.
