I can confirm that there is not yet a new 'nvidia-340' in focal-proposed.
Looking at the changelogs this *should* be a very simple case of backporting
existing gutsy-updates source to focal just naming it .20.04.1 on the end
instead of 20.10.2, in short.

Hi Daniel - unplugging the phone has proven to resolve the problem.
I have had to use the laptop to charge the phone on my trip hence this
never showing up as an issue before - I have set show-mounts to false
also and will see if this fixes it with the phone connected... or are
the two situations

munpack then decides to use tempdesc.txt as the filename for both. Then
when the second "create" fails, it deletes it, before the first instance
tries
I resolved this by disabling one of the duplicate services with:
statusctl disable rc.local.service
A reboot confirms it to have fixed the problem with no (apparent) ill
effect.
