Problem also solved for me. Somehow my loopback device was removed from /etc/network/interfaces. Adding the device again solved the problem. I suspect it happend after a (broken) update of knetworkmanager. I would suggest to mark this bug as solved. Thank you all for your helpl -- Long startup-

Sorry for the late reply. After upgrade (2008-04-15) of the whole system, the problem does still exist Safe-mode option does not show any effect (4min load time until the safe-mode dialog appears). No gnome support packages had been installed. Purgin firefox and xulrunner and reinstalling it does
