Uptime 3 days 12 hours, and I've seen the strange monochrome windows
again. Memory use at 83% after Evolution (which I'm now starting to

I have figured out this bug. It has nothing to do with nfs. The
mountall program is entering an infinite loop in the cut_options
function because of a logic error in the string processing.
The cut_options function exists to strip mountall-only options
(showthrough, optional, bootwait, nobootwait)

I have this problem on my Karmic system. Note that guake -p on this
system also fails to show the preferences panel, as documented.
On my Lucid system, guake -p brings up the preferences panel correctly.
Note that on both systems, guake run from within my zsh configuration

The handling of the opening book is a source of confusion with this

I'm not sure why this is an X related issue? I mean, the only thing that
changes is that I boot between two different kernels. Also the problem
is there if I switch to a console (ctrl+alt+f1).

Using nomodeset or i915.modeset=0 on a Dell C400 (82830 / i830 chipset) works
fine and the xv interface is available again.
It does have the side effect that the boot splash causes a segmentation fault

I too have a wonderfull Dell c400 and the info in this bug helped me get
suspend working. Thanks. However, my config of Ubuntu seems a bit
