Sebastien, the retrace service marked my bug as a dupe from this.
I can reproduce the crash connecting an external monitor and changing
views with FN + CRT/LCD.
This causes the g-s-d crash.
I believe this bug is really a dup from bug #390875 linked at upstream
In my case i'm using an Intel 965 card. One thing that brings my
attention is that with Jaunty the external monitor is recognized by it's
manufacturer's name and model, however with Karmic this is not the case.

However i'm reopening loop-aes-source in order to look a path to compile
this module without a full recompilation.
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
hmmm, it seems that a pretty similar bug was solved upstream in latest
loop-aes-source available in karmic at this time. So if the reporters
can test the package
loop-aes-source | 3.2f-1 | karmic/universe | all
and this solves the problem, a backport can be requested.

i'm marking this bug as dupe from bug #342902. As the irc logs, mailing
list shows at this moment the config change proposed is not an option.
however as stated at that bug the latest karmic update for
ohh, well the compilation went ok, but as the normal loop is inside the
kernel there's no way that the loop_aes module can be loaded.
digging around a bit, it seems to be a problem with almost all major
distributions. Seems that gentoo is the only one that this is possible
now.
However, as the
the compilation test went ok, but as stated previously (i should have
read closer) the module won't load because of duplicate symbols.
as per comment #10 and 10 seconds boot goal for karmic that change would
need a big sponsor to get done.
I've reopened the Linux task in bug #372781
sorry for

@exploder91
This is a dupe from bug #314928 , however i would need the output from
cat /proc/mtrr to confirm that.
Thanks in advance
