I see similar OpenGL rendering problems with OpenArena.
Many (but not all) surfaces which are supposed to be solid are not
rendered, and instead bits of the rest of the world are smeared in

I can confirm this on my Dell Inspiron 1520 with Intel X3100 graphics

Suspend to RAM (sleep) works fine.
Suspend to disk (hibernate) fails in the same manner described above.
If I press ALT-F1 before the splash screen hangs,

default, which works fine except for window borders. I have applied all

Pretty sure this is a dupe of bug #10895 Gnome drawer applet delays and
unresponsiveness.

The older bug has a workaround for Compiz-Fusion's
