patch, and yes, did confirm that this fixed the problem on updating to

Pre-18.04, I had to download and install the module for my TP-Link T4U
USB WiFi adapter manually. With most (not all) previous updates, the
module would be incorporated in the update automatically.
With 18.04, this module is now included in the standard repository,
which I
I ran Software Updater yesterday, and it seemed to get hung up. I left
it on overnight, and it did not progress. I'm attaching a screenshot of
the Software Updater.
I will terminate the application and attempt to reboot.

So it looks as if pax is dead in the water for serious backup use, and
there is no intention of fixing it. This 2 GB limitation should be

Jeremey, actually, I'm not sure, but I think the Ubuntu update was
compiling the module after downloading the new kernel before the system
was rebooted into the new kernel, which is how the module was compiled
for the old kernel instead of the new. On rebooting, I was unable to
rebuild the module

I'm not 100% sure, but I think pyrun.exe is some sort of python language
interpreter. Wubi is written in Python. I could be wrong, though. You're
the first person in this thread who has had AV problems with pyrun.exe.
The rest of us were trying to get pyrun.exe to stop giving us a no disk
in drive
Yes, my problems are continuing (with booting and recognition of LG
CH10LS drive), and makes no difference if it's 32 or 64 bit (happens
with all Ubuntu 10.10 based distros). The distro is simply not
recognizing the LG as a live drive, and then takes forever to boot up
while it tries.
One trick I
Note, that the HP BDDVDRW CH20L drive is made by LG, and corresponds
with their LG CH10LS20 model drive. Also note, that owners of the LG
CH10LS20 drive are having the same problems as owners of the HP BDDVDRW
CH20L drive with Ubuntu 10.10 based distros.

UPDATE: As an addendum to my above comment about closing the drive door
during boot to make U-10.10 based distros recognize the drive;
I am now able to boot just fine into either 32 bit or 64 bit Ubuntu
10.10 based distros. I am no longer having to keep a disk in the drive,
or having to close

also installed blank CDs in my drives (lol)...then finally someone else
pointed out the issue with card readers.

it appears that the wubi script is scanning all drives on the PC (windows
treats card reader

but c++ (not microsoft's visual c++, tho) would probably be okay
perhaps...anyway it would just be a tiny program whose only job would be
to get system drive info and pass it to wubi on request because c++ may
have better libraries for accessing such information...unless python has

wubi 9.04 has been changed in some way. and it is only this initial part
because once past this problem, the

This is probably easier to test in Jaunty because it uses gstreamer
0.10.22 which is required by the git version of gst-plugins-good. I have

Pidgin randomly crashes
Sadly, the problem came back again... also, I ended up with a lot of
duplicate messages being downloaded, including a lot of the junk that I
had to work so hard to delete once already. So, this fix is actually by
not sufficient.

Well, the reason pidgin is running out of file descriptors is because
pipes to play sound files not being released after the sounds are
played, so they end up accumulating until the limit is hit. Supposedly
according to the guys on the pidgin bug forum, this problem is not of

I am seeing the same problem but I'm using a Dell D520. I did find that
in changing the option to Do Nothing it works as it should when Blank
Screen is selected. It may be that the OS and hardware are fighting over
control.

The for loop is returning what the proc state should be: Open when its
open and closed when it's closed though it's still randomly staying off.
Note that when it does turn off (lid closed), it turns off, flickers
back on, and then turns off again. I've tried this with both Blank
Screen and Do
It's worked fine in Hardy and broke when I upgraded to Intrepid.

Well, I'm not sure what anything special might be. Here's more info that
might help:
I used Ubuntu's Synaptic Package Manager (I'm fairly sure it's just a nice
graphical frontend for apt) to download and install xorsa.
I proceeded to fire it up (xorsa that is) and poke around with the
