TimedLogin in gdm3 makes the screen go black. Can't VT switch.

I created a logfile of the failure as requested.
I saw that it is perhaps a timing issue, because one time (out of
perhaps 20 tries) today it seamed to work correctly.

Screen goes black. Even with Ctrl-Alt-Fx I'm not able to switch to an

I have the same problem with Kopano packeges and php 7.0.
In fact I even don't know why there is a conflict and a problem to solve
this. libсurl3 should install /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl.so.3 and
libcurl4 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl.so.4

I found this nice workaround:
virsh send-key $domain KEY_RIGHTCTRL KEY_RIGHTALT KEY_DELETE
It also helps when VMs are stuck in BIOS

Now I tried NIS on a current lucid VirtualBox install and found ssh to be
working there right away and only gdm being broken.
When capturing via tcpdump the YPSERV communication I noticed many identical
queries for passwd.byname so I tried on both systems: aptitude install nscd .
What is
The nscd problems appear to have only been caching isues.
touch /etc/groups helped there. The underlying NIS-group bug with gdm remains,
though.

can you try to edit /etc/nsswitch.conf
to have
group: compat nis
(instead of just group: compat)
