Upon further investigation it appears that the problem is in the way
gnome-core is structured such that removing gnome-maps removes gnome-
core?
If that's the case, can this be reassigned to gnome-core instead of
gnome-maps?

Oh, i also tried to use aptitude, that won't work because the solution is to
keep the following dependencies while removing gnome-maps:

part of gnome-core which it lists this in as no longer needed for autoremove to
remove:

fresh install of the daily (RC1) 2020.04.17, froze up > twice during
install when using the normal (i.e., not safe) graphics mode.

Somehow a +i attrib was set on the directory containing evolution and
its components. Recursively removing the +i attrib solved the problem.
No idea how it got set.

Oh and I expected that I could update my system with apt and now I
