For me it looks like, the problem is not located within the gdesklets
code, rather somewhere in the bindings. Ubuntu seems to link it agains
python 2.4.x. At least for x86-64 systems. It'd be interesting if
someone could remove the pygtk bindings, compile it, link it against
python 2.5.x and
I've noticed lots of these problems for the last four years I've been
co-maintaining gDesklets. I also ran into the issue one time. Re-compiling
the bindings helped. My guess is, that an upgrade to a newer version wasn't
successful.

Confirmed. I don't know how to solve this at the moment. That's the only
desklet so far I'm having problem with.
