I have the same problem (though the blank screen period is a bit shorter
on my computer).
I get an fsck message for two partitions and a couple of lines about a
dodgy webcam driver. Then Plymouth loads. I don't get console messages
overlaid onto the splash screen, but they're there before it
There have been several releases of the nVidia driver that have this
issue for me.
The only way to get it working in linux is to disable powermizer. It
works perfectly fine with the latest Vista video driver.

It is a bit pointless to use a fancy GUI music manager when you still
have to maintain the integrity of your library folder yourself.

I get almost identical messages. I'm running Jaunty.
Steps for me to get this error:
- Mount a remote server via SSH, as explained in the bug report.
- Hibernate/suspend computer for the night.
- Resume in the morning and notice that the nautilus windows showing the remote
folder closes itself
