I do not have the laptop working anymore and am unable to test this, but
I do remember that pressing any key in xev worked, but these didn't. I
eventually got the buttons working with acerhk - this is what is
missing. I think new users installing Ubuntu wanting these keys
shouldn't have to go

No, I've been unable to. I think my wireless card has bad modules
though. A laptop with the same distro, same mirror, different wireless
card is fine.

My X193W monitor on NVIDIA 8500GT was detected to be at 60Hz which is wrong.
This causes flickering and weird lines going down the screen.
Setting the rate to 75Hz fixed this in KDE's System Settings helps, but on
bootup it saves it wrongly, and it goes back to 60Hz until I
