I installed today Ubuntu 18.04. I have a secondary monitor (Acer
AL1914), which does not provide a EDID, so I created one and usually
loaded directly from the kernel at startup.
The EDID is located here:
/lib/firmware/edid/al1914.bin
The kernel command line is this:
Interestingly, even though pulseaudio doesn't start and no sound
indicator appears on the system, if I start something using VLC, the
audio works. No sound in the browser or system, only in VLC. I guess
this is due to some bugs in pulseaudio, isn't it?

yes, update-manager, actually I find no real problem, it just fire up this
crash report and I supposed there was some problem so I filled the bug.
package php7.1-sqlite3 is correctly installed.
`dpkg --configure --pending` is silent, no package unconfigured.
So I can not say what is the problem,

I had exactly the same situation of post #23. Coming from Kubuntu 16.04, bought
a new system Ryzen 1800x+GA-AB350 Gaming 3.
First boot, using the "old" SSD worked fine, so I decided to upgrade to version
16.10. The procedure goes well, but after the reboot got plenty of error

pwaring I think fix-committed state means that a patch has been committed to
ubuntu repository, then automatic test are run on it and qa, et all, if there
are no regression it will be released.
If things goes bad then a new patch should be committed, and so. (I guess it
works something like
