The nvidia GPU can be in different states - D3cold, D0, D3hot.
I randomly noticed, that if I keep the nvidia GPU in D0 state (just by
opening the nvidia-settings panel on the PowerMizer tab) -

I really am no expert about this but I faced the same problem. I think
the solution was use the adapter while turning on your laptop. When
not plugged in I got the panic right in 2 mins the max. So far I haven't
had a problem while using the adapter. Still a problem though.

I experienced the same problem: I've had Miro installed from Ubuntu
repositores [miro (2.5.3-1ubuntu1)] and its automatically uninstalled
when I install Gourmet (Gourmet Recipe Manager 0.14.5) via Ubuntu
Software Center. When I try to install Miro again via Synaptic, I
Ubuntu 9.0 Karmic Koala
I'm affected as well.
Miro was a victim of Software Center and the Ubunter video viewed via
itself. :-)

I installed Google Chrome to give a try.
Now, when I click GIMP help, it opens the page via Chrome. For sure my System
Preferences Preferred Applications set default browser way leads to Firefox
but GIMP had its settings as sensible-browser %s. And

a) with Chromium as default gets Google Chrome for sensible-browser
b) with Firefox as default gets Epiphany for sensible-browser

After five months and many standard updates the situation is still the
same. Those 3 false offer appears all the time after updates. The bug
report seems to be unconfirmed at the moment; if there's some more
info needed, i can send them as well.
