sorry, that's quite impossible, since i updated to gutsy a few weeks
ago... but i guess, since the problem's gone away in gutsy, it might be
solved in feisty, too.

confirmed here... did a clean install of gutsy from tribe 5 cd, did all updates
and now the window manager behaves completely messed up. no problems yet with
firefox, but terminal multiple screens wide, so i tried to completely remove
and reinstall it. now i got a normal window size, but the
actually this fixes all the noted problems on my box... appereance
works, all other windows behavy normally... thanks for the hint, bogdan

sorry for the late answer, i obviosuly missed the question from you,
brian. the problem still exists - better, it existed 'til i switched
from the SMP-kernel to the 386 without smp. after that step, ndiswrapper
and my dongle worked properly without any problems. i could install the
686-kernel
had freezes with multiple usb-dongles (dwl-g132 one of them), just
installed 386-kernels, not 686, everything works form now on. seems to
be a problem with SMP.

The XAANoOffscreenPixmaps option is required to be on in xorg.conf on
some graphics hardware/driver configurations, otherwise many windows
either show up blank or their rendering freezes.
Known affected hardware:
• ATI R300 (radeon)
• ATI R350 (radeon)
same for me here. resizing the windows (such as the terminal) makes the
text show up. some menu items are not higlighted, such as in the
administration-menu, whereas the settings menu items are highlighted.
thought i messed with some settings, so i uninstalled beryl, deleted the
settingsfolder of

since i could not install from the original ubuntu-repos yesterday as

now i did this the other way round:
removed all ubuntu-repos from my sources.list (after backing it up :D),
added the beryl-repos posted above, did a apt-get clean (forgot to
mention it above), apt-get update, installed beryl and everything works
like a charm.
so actually: it's the original
meh, went awry after a few seconds of doing real work and not just
clicking the affected menus.
another side-affect is that the menu icons of affected menus sometimes don't
appear.

recently installed ndiswrapper from repos. dlink-dongle is plugged in,
driver installed. no wlan0 shows up, even though ndiswrapper -l shows
driver installed/device present messages. so i unplugged and replugged
the dongle which led to a kernel oops. reproducable every time.
Time for a friendly me too. Just tried to access a NTFS-Partition
(yeah, well...erm, it's useful :D) just to notice it's gone (yeah, i
fixed the fstab entry manually and, whoops, there it was), so no big
problem, still the update-process should just handle this somehow.
