I am happy with my script it does the job but i have one KISS solution
for the masses that i thing it could work:
On single monitor environments:
1.) Tap somewhere on empty space or predefined spot on the Launcher puts
the Launcher in autohide mode.
2.) Tap again and voila it's in never hide
Any chance for either:
1.) Oneiric (32bit)
2.) Precise (64bit)

I can confirm that the most recent update causes this. There was an
update to the human icon theme and after a reboot, the ubuntuone
checkmarks appeared. also, it shows up on the other partitions in the
HDD (for example, my OSX partition also has all the checkmarks). there
are other mess-ups in
