although I get sporadic warnings in pidgin while connecting to msn.
The command update-ca-certificates yielded no results, and wget also

the console config does not honor the settings in /etc/default/console-

This bug has a known workaround, is a regression and it seems like a
configuration bug. Even if the fix includes installing bluez-compat,
this looks like a papercut to me.
A proper fix in the bluetooth stack is probably more complicated, but
there's certainly a way to revert the regression effect
I'm also affected by this bug, using firefox-3.0 in 9.04.

To anyone else who might have this issue, here's a permanent work
around.
Open a terminal and edit console-setup config to manually input the
thinkpad variant.
gksu /etc/default/console-setup
and look for a line that reads
XKBVARIANT=
and change it to
XKBVARIANT=thinkpad
After that, a
I confirm that this issue no longer affects me in up to date Jaunty,
without the config in /etc/pm/config.pm.
My laptop is a Lenovo 3000 v100, and hardware details are attached to

I think I found out how to work around this issue. Since an empty test
account didn't show the behaviour, I decided moving my dirs and files
out of ~ until I got f-spot to work. After a while of some trial and

For the record, TJ also gave me more tips on IRC:
since it looks like a conflict between the onboard video adapter (intel)
and the external pci-e adapter (nvidia), check for BIOS video

This includes /home (also lvm) and /boot (non-lvm). I'm guessing this is
because of script crashes in the init process due to the bug.

A new symptom appeared, and gave me the hint to work around the problem
well enough in order to boot the system: The nvidia card failed to be
recognized temporarily, forcing me to plug the monitor into the onboard
video output (intel motherboard, i810 video driver).

I started having kernel oopses, and can't use this machine since they
started. The oopses happen even in the Hardy LiveCD and LiveDVD I have,
similar to what's mentioned in Bug #154591. It is reproducible in every
boot.
