The welcome wizard is part of unity8. unity8 usually loads a QPA plugin
called "mirserver" from QtMir, so that is it a mir server.
This log suggests unity8 loaded the "ubuntumirclient" plugin, which is
from QtUbuntu. Why it did this we need to figure out. The output of

If this happens again, please connect your phone to your computer with USB, use
"adb shell" from a terminal to get a shell on your phone. Then do
kill -SEGV `pidof unity8`
This will make unity8 crash in the hung state it is in, and apport will
do its job of uploading the crash file to us.
Same output as Albert printed from that crash file. Hard to figure out
why without having it happen reliably :(

There's not enough information here to make a proper attack on this
issue, and this is a complex topic.
We need someone to sit down and determine things like:
1. why did the OOM killer strike a foreground app? Did it use an insane amount
of memory? If a webapp, is it a QtWebkit-based app, or Oxid
Mir input events support key-repeat state. QtMir isn't passing this to the
shell however, and thus not passing it to client.
QtUbuntu probably also needs to support the same.

2. MIR_SOCKET is not set to the correct mir server socket
3. the permissions on the socket file mean dash cannot connect
We rely on upstart to ensure Dash starts when unity8 claims to be ready
Desktop is stable, I can't get it to fail.
The Android bug does not always hit, only occasionally. Happens on both N4 &

this or not.
The blurriness was to save memory, but also to indicate to the suer that
the app isn't live yet. If we fix the bluriness, we'll need some other

the bcmwl 6.30 driver consistently unreliable, packets just stop sending

lot of work. The Mir team needs to identify what functionality that libXimd
(the IMdkit library used by fcitx and others) to implement and how.

Note I generally can reproduce this with a newly flashed device and the
first run of the camera-app test suite. Further runs tend to not exhibit
the bug.

Am update with my findings so far:
I can occasionally reproduce QtMir rejecting the camera app connection.
It does this as it is not expecting the camera process to connect to it/mir.
Why not? Upstart/Ubuntua-app-launch should have notified it that camera app is
starting. But it appears some no

Unity8's main loop is blocked, which will cause qtmir to block mir when
mir is asking if a session should be authorized or not - as that
decision made in unity8's main loop.

reproduce this to no avail.
This fail will occur if mir client process are *not* launched via
ubuntu-app-launch - as unity8 will not accept mir connections it doesn't

I agree with Alberto's assessment. Qt's mainloop appears blocked. Would
need more frames of thread1 to get a good idea why.

A little more digging: bringing up mir_proving_server and xeyes manually:
1. sudo stop lightdm
2. sudo mir_proving_server
3. sudo chown $USER /tmp/mir_socket
4. sudo chmod 777 /tmp/mir_socket
5. Xmir :1 -mirSocket /tmp/mir_socket
6. in separate shell, do:
DISPLAY=:1 xeyes
