Again I tried to activate STA-drivers - still unsuccessfull, dmesg says:

No change with 2.6.31-19-generic.
System still tells me that Broadcom ST WLAN driver is activated, but
no wireless is working.
Can I provide more info to get this solved - currently the laptop is
unusable for me.

[regression] no wlan on s10e broadcom since update to kernel 2.6.31-17
Hi pkubanek - you seem to experience a totally different problem.
On my S10e the hardware is still visible, but the drivers (software)
cannot be activated.
lspci says (with all updates in place and 2.6.31-17 running):
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Memory
The file does not exist, which may be due to the fact that neither the
installation of b43 nor the installation of STA can be done
successfully.
I was able to install STA (without network connection) after manually
creating /etc/modprobe.d/foo-test.with above contents (+reboot). I'm
going to
I updated initramfs and rebooted several times - no change.
Modules b43 and ssb are not loaded and wl not automatically. Could this be the
cause for all the problems?
Under Hardware-driver I see that STA is successfully enabled, but no
wifi working.
Seems as if I cannot insert the module
If I boot into 2.6.31-17 the machine freezes after a couple of minutes with GDM
running -
last log message is:
b43-phy0: Controller RESET (DMA error) ...
b43-phy0: Loading firmware version 410.2160 (2007-05-26 15:32:10)
b43-phy0: Controller restarted
b43-phy0: ERROR: Fatal DMA error: 0x0400,
To circumvent the problem I tried to install STA-module under 2.6.31-16 (the
configuration that worked perfectly before the kernel update) - but the
activation of the driver fails.
Attached you will find /var/log/jockey.log

The problem seems to be different since I'm not able to
deterministically start my X even with above mentioned workaround.
The manually changed xorg.conf yields to the same X-window-not-working-
handling. Neither trying to create a new config nor default low-graphics
mode is working. A service
Seems to be fixed for me:
root@:/var/log# dmesg | grep NV

[0.00] modified: bfed - bfedc000 (ACPI NVS)

Seems to be fixed now - I'm able to change from gdm to kdm without any
hickups. If kdm is selected I have a working X but cannot change to
console (the console's picture is all white with colourful stripes
flowing in the picture from the top).

intrepid - 2.6.27-7generic - X does not start -
Since there were no updates available I had to manually set driver vesa in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.
The Try to restore X-utility of ubuntu didn't work - even starting with a
plain new config for my hardware didn't yield to a working X session.
Do you need any more files to track this regression

Hi Leann,
unfortunately I cannot check the change of gdm/kdm. Ubuntu-alpha5 and
kubuntu-alpha5 work, but the problem occurred when changing the display manager
on a running instance.
Sorry

Dear Leann,
can't download an Alpha3 - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/alpha-3/
gives a 404.
Can you point me to an ISO-image of karmic3 to verify whether it boots or not?
